It is located at north-west of Taiwan, crossing over Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu county, and covering 12 towns and cities, including Yingko, Taoyuan, Pate, Tahsi, Kuanying, Chungli, Pingchen, Hsinwu, Yangmei, Chupei, Huko, and Hsinfeng, etc. The elevation of this area is from 100 to 240 meters, and slope is 1:80 to 1:120 tilting from south-east to north-west to form a fan type alluvial terrace. From here to the east is Yingko town, to the west is Fengshan stream of Hsinchu county. The south is high hill zone to close to the irrigation area of Taoyuan Irrigation Association. The average rainfall of this area is about 2,000 mm, and so its rainfall is rich. Its climate is island sub-tropical available for double-cropped cultivation. The sol of clay loam, clay and sandy loam occupies 3/5, 1/5, and 1/5 respective in the irrigation area. It is fertile for crops cultivation.
1. Irrigation water resources – The main water resources of this territory is Shihmen dam, and next is farm pond (435 ponds), weir (140 sets) to catch return water for irrigation, and well (7 wells) to pump water from the ground (sued for dry period).
2. Irrigation canal – Main irrigation canals of this territory are Shihmen canal, besides, there are Yuanshulin lateral canal, Shetze lateral canal, Tungshih lateral canal, Chungli lateral canal, Putou lateral canal, Kouling lateral canal, Nanshih lateral canal, Pingchen lateral canal, Shanshi lateral canal, Shanhsi lateral canal, Shanlu lateral canal, Huanting lateral canal, Kaoshanting lateral canal, Changkangling lateral canal, Jaoling lateral canal, and Hukou lateral canal, etc.
Irrigation pattern and cultivation way
In this territory, the irrigation area is 12,085 ha. The irrigation water comes from reservoir and farm ponds that are mainly used for double=cropped rive cultivation.
